{"id":832,"date":"2009-01-30T16:49:48","date_gmt":"2009-01-30T23:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=832"},"modified":"2009-01-29T19:55:19","modified_gmt":"2009-01-30T02:55:19","slug":"super-bowl-xliii-drink-5-non-alcoholic-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=832","title":{"rendered":"Super Bowl XLIII Drink #5: Non-Alcoholic Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not surprisingly most of my work for the Super Bowl has been alcoholic.\u00c2\u00a0 When hosting a large party though you always need to consider the needs of those who don&#8217;t drink.\u00c2\u00a0 There are quite a few options.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve offed a few here for your perusal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-833\" title=\"balloons500\" src=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/balloons500.jpg\" alt=\"balloons500\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Classics:<\/strong> There are a ton of classics that fill this role.\u00c2\u00a0 Most usually soda of some kind.\u00c2\u00a0 I offer this as an alternative.\u00c2\u00a0 Either buy some specialty sodas (eg Jones, Izze, etc) to offer a bit of spice.\u00c2\u00a0 Or, even more creative.\u00c2\u00a0 Get some flavored syrups, you can usually get these from a local coffee shop, and create a make your own Italian soda bar.\u00c2\u00a0 Flavored syrup, soda water and optionally half and half.\u00c2\u00a0 I assure you party goers won&#8217;t be expecting that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sparkling Cider:<\/strong> Although this is kind of a classic I think it deserves a category of its own.\u00c2\u00a0 There are quite a lot of things you can do with sparkling cider.\u00c2\u00a0 For example try adding a touch more flavor with a couple dashes of bitters.\u00c2\u00a0 This is obviously not suggested for those who drink *no* alcohol as bitters contain some.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mocktails: <\/strong> There is an entire class of cocktails that have no alcohol at all.\u00c2\u00a0 I think the reigning queen of these is definitely Natalie Bovis-Nelsen AKA &#8220;<a title=\"The Liquid Muse\" href=\"http:\/\/theliquidmuse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Liquie Muse<\/a>&#8221; who has recently released a book of mocktails called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1599214547?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=cockthacke-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1599214547\">Preggatinis<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=cockthacke-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1599214547\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>.\u00c2\u00a0 If you&#8217;d like to sample a couple of the recipes Natalie has a <a title=\"Preggatinis Blog\" href=\"http:\/\/preggatinis.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog for the book<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I think these are a great option for kids especially as it lets them have an adult drink in a cocktail glass, if you dare.<\/p>\n<p>So there you go.\u00c2\u00a0 You should be all set for your up-coming Super Bowl party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not surprisingly most of my work for the Super Bowl has been alcoholic.\u00c2\u00a0 When hosting a large party though you always need to consider the needs of those who don&#8217;t drink.\u00c2\u00a0 There are quite a few options.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve offed a few here for your perusal.
