{"id":488,"date":"2008-10-19T20:55:20","date_gmt":"2008-10-20T03:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=488"},"modified":"2008-10-19T20:55:20","modified_gmt":"2008-10-20T03:55:20","slug":"the-brown-derby-cocktail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=488","title":{"rendered":"The Brown Derby Cocktail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today Jennifer and I toured <a title=\"Churchill Downs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.churchilldowns.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Churchill Downs<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 When we arrived we took a quick walk through the museum then took the standard 30 minute tour that comes with museum admission.\u00c2\u00a0 The museum itself was a little less interesting than I had anticipated, but the quick tour was nice.\u00c2\u00a0 Following the quick tour we went on a Behind the Scenes tour of the race course.\u00c2\u00a0 This tour was fantastic!\u00c2\u00a0 We were able to see inside the jockey&#8217;s quarters, saw both of the Millionaire rooms and even got to check out the track announcers booth and press area.\u00c2\u00a0 All very interesting.\u00c2\u00a0 From up there you have a spectacular view of the race track and grounds and can really get a feel for what goes on behind the scenes on race day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/img_5067-1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-489 aligncenter\" title=\"Churchill Downs\" src=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/img_5067-1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/img_5067-1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/img_5067-1024-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next weekend is the first race of the season for Churchill Downs so today the track was pretty empty, save the few people enjoying some OTB.\u00c2\u00a0 I can only imagine what the track must be like on Derby Day when our tour guide said they&#8217;ll have upwards of 150,000 people in the stands and the infield.\u00c2\u00a0 In honor of this amazing race, this week we&#8217;re going to feature the Brown Derby Cocktail.\u00c2\u00a0 To begin the investigations we&#8217;ll be using the recipe listed on the Splendora <a title=\"Maker's Mark -
