{"id":4249,"date":"2014-11-11T17:23:07","date_gmt":"2014-11-12T00:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=4249"},"modified":"2014-11-07T19:25:42","modified_gmt":"2014-11-08T02:25:42","slug":"review-crafthouse-bottled-cocktails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=4249","title":{"rendered":"Review &#8211; Crafthouse Bottled Cocktails"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bottled cocktails, mixers and the like are something I&#8217;ve usually shied away from. \u00c2\u00a0Typically something that comes from a bottle is going to taste, well, like it came from a bottle. \u00c2\u00a0The fruit juices are flat, the herbal notes are muddy, bleh. \u00c2\u00a0So, I was naturally a bit apprehensive when I was offered review samples of <a title=\"Crafthouse Bottled Cocktails\" href=\"http:\/\/crafthousecocktails.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Crafthouse Bottled Cocktails<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0The apprehension began to fade\u00c2\u00a0as I heard they were being crafted and produced by the USBG&#8217;s 2014 World Class winner Charles Joly. \u00c2\u00a0Okay, you&#8217;ve got the cocktail cred, do you have the flavor to match?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4250\" src=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/crafthouse_brick_final_edits-5-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"Crafthouse Cocktails\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Crafthouse is currently producing three classic cocktails with natural ingredients, premium spirits and a close eye on the flavor and replication of the classic recipes. \u00c2\u00a0And they&#8217;re doing a damn fine job of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paloma<\/strong> &#8211; This is one of my favorite summertime cocktails and the Crafthouse version is very well done and disappeared alarmingly quickly. \u00c2\u00a0The grapefruit flavor was very fresh and natural. \u00c2\u00a0The flavor is much closer to a Paloma made with fresh grapefruit juice than grapefruit soda so expect a light bitterness. \u00c2\u00a0For me, the bitterness is perfect though and makes the drink that much more refreshing on a hot day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Southside<\/strong> &#8211; If you&#8217;ve not heard of a Southside, think Mojito made with gin. \u00c2\u00a0The lime and mint flavors are very fresh and natural tasting but masked the gin notes a bit more than I would have liked. \u00c2\u00a0I am a gin nut though. \u00c2\u00a0While I liked this recipe, the other two edge it out on the favorites list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moscow Mule<\/strong> &#8211; Wow! The ginger flavor in this cocktail is intense. \u00c2\u00a0If you&#8217;ve ever had fresh, homemade ginger beer this is exactly the flavor you&#8217;ll find here. \u00c2\u00a0Crisp ginger, tart lemon and just carbonated enough to make it refreshing. \u00c2\u00a0Excellent version of a cocktail that is becoming hugely popular again.<\/p>\n<p>All that aside, here&#8217;s the pressing question. \u00c2\u00a0Would I buy these over making my own? \u00c2\u00a0Absolutely. \u00c2\u00a0If I was headed to a party and wanted to bring a cocktail but didn&#8217;t feel like standing behind the counter making each one by hand, I&#8217;d reach for these in a minute.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a0 The product reviewed here was provided to me as a free sample.
