{"id":1994,"date":"2011-08-29T21:00:23","date_gmt":"2011-08-30T04:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=1994"},"modified":"2011-08-29T21:00:23","modified_gmt":"2011-08-30T04:00:23","slug":"honeysuckle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=1994","title":{"rendered":"Honeysuckle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Creating original cocktails from scratch is something that&#8217;s always been a challenge for me.\u00c2\u00a0 Where should I start?\u00c2\u00a0 What spirit should I use?\u00c2\u00a0 Often, I find myself stuck.\u00c2\u00a0 So, on the occasion that I&#8217;m struck with inspiration, it&#8217;s a great feeling.\u00c2\u00a0 I got that feeling when sampling <a title=\"CH - ALO Review\" href=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=1982\">ALO<\/a> last week.\u00c2\u00a0 ALO Elated has a nice green tea flavor and that got me thinking what would work well with tea.\u00c2\u00a0 My first thoughts were of the classic tea garnish, lemon, but what spirit to use.\u00c2\u00a0 Then I had a moment that can best be described as a mix between an &#8220;aha&#8221; and &#8220;well, duh&#8221; moment.\u00c2\u00a0 Honey.\u00c2\u00a0 Honey vodka to be specific.\u00c2\u00a0 I recently sampled, and loved, <a title=\"CH - Spring44 Review\" href=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=1961\">Spring44 Honey Vodka<\/a> so that was the natural choice.\u00c2\u00a0 Enough blather, here&#8217;s the recipe.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Honeysuckle by ReeseCLloyd, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/reeselloyd\/6058066850\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6068\/6058066850_fc5d9980d6.jpg\" alt=\"Honeysuckle\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<pre><strong>Honeysuckle<\/strong><\/pre>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>2 oz ALO Elated\r\n2 oz Spring44 Honey Vodka\r\n1\/4 oz Lemon Juice\r\n2 Dashes Bitters<\/strong><\/pre>\n<pre style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1) Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice\r\n2) Shake until well chilled\r\n3) Strain into a chilled cocktail glass<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>The flavors in this cocktail are not unexpected.\u00c2\u00a0 Subtle notes of honey and tea run throughout the flavor profile.\u00c2\u00a0 The lemon comes through as only a bare touch of sourness and lemon flavor.\u00c2\u00a0 The drink is not overly sweet and yet not dry, just right.\u00c2\u00a0 The bitters add depth and complexity and a lovely layer of spice.\u00c2\u00a0 Just what this cocktail needed.<\/p>\n<p>I leave the bitters up to you.\u00c2\u00a0 I used <a title=\"CH - Robert Hess' House Bitters\" href=\"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=621\">Robert Hess&#8217;
