{"id":1044,"date":"2009-06-04T21:14:50","date_gmt":"2009-06-05T04:14:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=1044"},"modified":"2009-06-04T21:14:50","modified_gmt":"2009-06-05T04:14:50","slug":"cruzan-single-barrel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cocktailhacker.com\/?p=1044","title":{"rendered":"Cruzan Single Barrel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week a bottle of <a title=\"Cruzan Rum\" href=\"http:\/\/cruzanrum.com\/main.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Cruzan Single Barrel<\/a> arrived on my doorstep to sample.\u00c2\u00a0 Looking back it was clearly brought by some kind of booze angel.\u00c2\u00a0 Never having tasted a single barrel rum before I popped the cork that night and poured a bit noticing first the mellow amber color.\u00c2\u00a0 This color is imparted during it&#8217;s dual aging process.\u00c2\u00a0 First the rum is aged for 4-12 years in refilled bourbon or whiskey barrels.\u00c2\u00a0 After this first aging the rums are blended to the satisfaction of master distiller Gary Nelthropp.\u00c2\u00a0 Once the blend is perfected the spirit is returned to the barrel, new American white oak this time, for a second aging.\u00c2\u00a0 6 &#8211;
